General Questions

What makes Frolic Inn different from other kennels?

In a phrase, we think outside the crate™.  That means what we do at Frolic Inn is more progressive, science-based, and dog-centric.  We don’t believe in punishment, but rather positive reinforcement where behavior is concerned, and we create a warm, welcoming environment for pets and their humans.

Day Care Questions

Can I have my dog groomed while he is at day care?
Yes.  This is a perfect time for that.

What happens to my dog at day care?
After we welcome both you and your dog, we introduce your dog to his own clean and comfortable area where he spends some downtime and eats breakfast.  After the morning rest period, we group our day-care dogs by size, temperament, personality and age.  The groups are taken to our two-acre, wooded park for play and socialization.  Larger dogs play in the off-leash dog park and smaller ones play in the Japanese Zen Garden.  Play lasts until lunchtime, when all the dogs go to their individual comfy areas to rest and enjoy lunch.  In the early afternoon, the dogs go outside again for playtime.  While the dogs are at play, we perform routine housekeeping in their comfy areas so they return to a clean environment to relax again until you come back to take them home.

Why take my dog to day care?
The reasons are many.  Most dogs need (and really thrive on) more exercise and playtime than they get at home in a crate or roaming an empty house.  They need socialization, too, learning to interact positively with other dogs and humans who are not family members. Equally important, owners benefit from doggy day care.  They can come home from a hard day at work and not have to immediately walk their dog, calm him down or feed him.  He’s relaxed and ready to cuddle.

Grooming Questions

Can I have my dog groomed while he is at day care?
Yes. This is a perfect time for that.

Is there anything I can do at home to help keep my dog well groomed?
Yes. Brushing your dog will not only help keep her well groomed, but it also creates a bond between the two of you.  Longhaired dogs usually require daily brushing to prevent matting and tangling of hair. Medium-haired dogs may be prone to matting and tangles and should be brushed at least weekly. Shorthaired dogs can typically go up to a month inbetween brushing.

What grooming services does Frolic Inn offer?

Behavior Questions

Can Frolic Inn help with my dog’s behavior problems?
Yes. Frolic Inn specializes in helping dogs and their owners change their behavior for good.  Our science-based methodology produces positive behavior in puppies, adolescent dogs, adult dogs and even “tough cases” that have not responded well before.

Is a puppy too young to learn good behavior?
No.  In fact, teaching good behavior at a young age is easier than after a dog has learned unpleasant behavior.

Do you have behavior classes?
Yes.  At the Frolic Inn, we offer a Diagnostic Day as part of our day-care program.  Owners bring their dogs to us for a day of one-on-one, professional assessment.  Then we offer corrective feedback and recommendations for your dog.
